The Building Components media type is reserved for Revit RFA and PAT files, which are files that contain parameterized objects with an option for BIM information. Building Components can also be files derived from Revit RFA files, such as DXF and other formats that Revit exports.

All RFA and PAT files published as the Building Components media type are eligible for Revit Certification. This designation indicates that the Revit family flexes and hosts as expected when loaded into Revit. Revit families published in the 3D Models media type are not eligible for certification.
