Use the Name / Price / Specs tab to name and price your product for sale. Here is also where you enter a product's "vital statistics" to inform potential customers about what they are purchasing. It is important that you enter as much accurate information as possible in here; some customers won't purchase your model unless you provide this technical data. Finally, use this tab to upload additional file formats for the same product (such as .FBX or .OBJ versions of your 3D model), which will increase your product's appeal to a wider market.

Name: This is the name of your product as it will appear inside of the TurboSquid library. Please try to name your product appropriately so that it is easy to find. For example, if you've created a new car model, do not name it simply "Car", "NewCar" or "MyCar", as this will not help users. Instead, use descriptive text such as "Ferrari 360 Modena Hi-Res" or "Dodge Viper Game-Ready" that can help readily identify it within a search.

Type: This dropdown menu defines the kind of product you're publishing whether it's a 3D Model, a Texture Map, Motion Capture file or other media type. Please see below for product type specific descriptions.

Price ($): Use this field to enter the price you want to sell your product for within the TurboSquid library. In order to best price your model, please search our existing library for products that are similar to yours. Then objectively try to determine where yours fits into the existing pricing structure based on the quality of the other products you find. If your product is completely unique, then you get to set the initial pricing. It is important to note that you should not automatically take the low price road and assume you will get sales simply based on price. Customers may look at your product and it's price and assume that something is wrong with it due to its low price, so consider carefully how you best fit in the existing offering and how long it took you to create the model.

Designate as Mature Content: Turn on this checkbox if the product you are uploading could be considered offensive to various groups and can be filtered. Nudity, violence/gore and any disturbing imagery uploaded should use this checkbox.

File Formats: Tentacles allows you to publish a file in multiple formats. This is done for several reasons, not the least of which is the fact that files in multiple formats appeal to a broader possible audience. For instance, if you're publishing a 3D model in 3ds Max format (.MAX), it also makes sense to export your model to other universal formats like .3DS, .OBJ and .FBX so that users of other 3D packages can purchase and import one of these open standards.

TIP: You are encouraged to re-import any model you export from your 3D application in an open standard to help ensure that the model re-imports properly. If you spot errors with the import, then you can fix the model prior to publishing.

+ add new: In order to publish a product onto the TurboSquid library, you have to first upload it to Tentacles.

NOTE: If you are running Tentacles within a supported 3D application, then you can also use the Publish to TurboSquid menu feature within the 3D application itself to initiate the publishing process and upload the native 3D file into the system automatically.

Click the + add new button to add one or more file formats for the product you want to publish. Beneath each product added to this list, you can add the version of the product. This is an arbitrary value that lets you keep track of which file is which in a long list.

Also, if you hover your mouse cursor over the file format type dropdown, it will pop up with the specific file associated with it, including the date it was uploaded and the product's filename as shown below.

When you click on the +add new button, the Add New Asset Formats dialog will appear:

You can add additional file formats of your product from any of three locations:

  • · From your hard disk
  • · From your Tentacles My Files area
  • · From a shared Tentacles Workspace

NOTE: You can add more versions of your product from your Tentacles My Files area or Tentacles Workspace only if they were previously uploaded to those areas.

+ add file from disk: Use this option to open up a standard Windows file selection dialog to choose one or more files from your hard disk.

+ add file from Tentacles: Click this button to open a Tentacles explorer window, and navigate through your My Files area or Tentacles Workspaces to choose files.

remove selected: Once you've added files to the Add New Asset Formats dialog with one of the + add file buttons, you can delete them from the list before starting the upload process by clicking remove selected.

clear all: Once you've added files to the dialog with one of the + add file buttons, you can delete all the listed files from the list before starting the upload process by clicking the clear allbutton.

upload: After you've added all the desired files to the Add New Asset Formats dialog with one of the + add file buttons, click upload to transfer the files to the Publishing Wizard for access within the File Formats area.

cancel: Click the cancel button if you wish to abort the file upload process.
